To all the women out there...

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 23, 2007, 7:28 PM
As I pass by the racks of magazines at the grocery store checkouts I see story after story of blazing orange lettering screaming at you that you can lose 20 pounds in one week; bold red letters enticing you to look inside to find out those 5 juicy secrets to sizzling sex; the lime green words promising younger looking skin in 3 days; and on and on it goes...

I found this in the Sunday comics a couple of weeks ago: In the Sunday comics "Between Friends", two gals are shopping and commenting on all the stuff available for women to use to look younger.

Woman #1: "They've got creams and lotions for the face, the body, the hands, the eyes, the lips, for wrinkled skin, aging skin, uneven skin tones, cracked heels, rough elbows and even cellulite for Pete's sake!" Honestly, these companies will try and create a need for anything!" Next they'll be trying to sell us moisturizer for younger looking earlobes!

Woman #1 and #2: "HAHAHA" (next pane) Both women are looking at their earlobes in the mirrors on the counter at the beauty department.

I remember one day at the China Road restaurant seeing a gal who had some crows feet extending from the corner of her eyes. I sat in amazement at how elegant she look WITH the crows feet! I tried picturing her without and the elegance I saw would cease it's enhancement of her beauty. It's these imperfections that women in America hate so strongly. But why? Are they a bad thing? Granted they remind us of our limited time of life, but what advantage does youthful appearance hold? Does a woman's character mean anything? Why aren't women flocking to write and devour books that challenge and encourage women to be kind and tenderhearted towards other people, especially men? I know that guys have hurt a lot of women, I am just as guilty, but why don't those women who have the ability to reach the masses encourage kind behavior towards guys rather than presenting us as retarded cavemen? Why can't the guys who are in similar positions challenge guys to love one women for a lifetime instead of bagging as many as he can for his trophy collection?

I watched part of the movie entitled "I Think I Love My Wife" and after 5 minutes I could have told him exactly what the problem was with his marriage and why he wasn't getting any sex! He was completely ignoring the relationship aspect of his marriage to a woman! He was treating her like some toy he could satisfy his desires with while completely ignoring his wifes needs. She had a job, took care of the kids, among other things, it's not wonder she was too tired, had a headache, and was not in the mood for sex.

I was reading an article in Men's Health magazine because I was curious to know what advice they would give men on how to relate to the opposite sex. The author said something to the effect of "if any man claims to understand women, then just brush him off as a liar since women are impossible to understand. But I'm going to give you some tips to help you navigate the confusing waters of femininity." That isn't word for word but it captures what he said in so many words. As I scanned through the article I picked up on a trend. The advice that the author gave seemed to be presented so that you as a guy can manipulate the women you are with in hopes that you can get some sex at a later time.

As a guy, I'm beginning to understand the extreme importance of relationship. Not so I can get sex, but because it foster intimacy that composes the main course of a relationship. So many people it seems believe that sex will make their relationship stronger, but they don't realize that sex is the desert of a relationship between two people and not the foundation of it. Thus, when two people have sex often they get sick on the sugar and wonder why their relationship never lasts. It's a shame that the media presents guys as idiots who can think of nothing but sex. Guys watch that and eventually they are quite likely to begin acting that way. Women see the very same thing ans wonder why guys are so Neanderthal-like. In the TV series Gilmore Girls, Lorelei talks with her neighbor about men and how she wants a guy want all of her, the whole package including the "annoying neurosis" and not just her ass.

Ladies, challenge us guys to a higher standard of relationship and stop allowing us to paw all over you for our own selfish, thrill seeking desires. Challenge us to be noble and chivalrous, instead of a snapping remark about how you are fully capable as a woman to open the door for yourself. We guys need all of the domestication help that we can get!

Thank you. My goal is to disarm those who would raise hell over religious stuff because someone started throwing insults or condemnation at someone else. I feel that if we stop to understand one another we may have fewer arguments that lead to anger and hurt feelings. We may even find that we can get along!

Your Welcome! Should I tell you that you aren't but 25-35 miles away from me? There was one car in your gallery that I believe I have seen in person myself at the Bridge festival or the one held annually outside of Hooter's in the big city.

Anyway, thank you for snapping some great shots of sweet looking classic and muscle cars!
